Dr. Désirée Wattelet is available for private voice instruction at the rate of $16.00/half hour and $32.00/hour. Lessons are
tailored to your needs as a singer, but usually include warm-ups, vocal exercises and song work.
Dr. Wattelet studied vocal pedagogy with the late, Dr. David Jones, the founder of the Vocal Pedagogy Department at
Stephen F. Austin State University, a top ranked graduate school for music, in Nacogdoches, TX. She has taught vocal
performance, song interpretation, vocal technique and the fundamental elements of music to undergraduate students and high
school students for over 12 years at both the private and collegiate levels.
She has sung with several renowned operas companies and is a perennial competition winner throughout the United States.
Désirée has been a guest artist in concerts with Nicolet College, The Wausau Conservatory of Music, The University of
Wisconsin - Stevens Point, The Orchestra of the Pines in Nacogdoches, TX, the Wednesday Morning Music Club, The
Austin Lyric Opera Guild, The Austin Women’s Society, Musical Bridges Across the World in San Antonio, TX, The Austin
Chamber Music Festival and the Aurora Borealis Festival in North Central Wisconsin.
Désirée is a classically trained singer who, as well as teaching, performs regularly in public, music from the Baroque era to
musical theatre and popular songs. She completed her doctoral studies at the University of Texas at Austin with a Doctor of
Musical Arts in Voice & Opera. Currently, Dr. Wattelet is on the music faculty at Nicolet Area Technical College, where she
develops and teaches college level music curriculum and programs responsive to the needs of the University Transfer
Program, the Business & Community Education – Personal Enrichment Program, the Learning in Retirement Program,
the Nicolet College Music Club and the Northwoods Academy. She is also Director of Music at Prince of Peace Lutheran
Church, a Master Level - Choral Clinician and Festival Judge for the Wisconsin State Music Association and is also member
of the National and Wisconsin Chapters of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
